A Ghost Story of Christmas

Bah! Humbug… or is it?

On a bitter Christmas Eve, the ghost of Jacob Marley arrives in chains to warn his old partner: change, or share his fate. One by one, the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future lead the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge through the rooms of his own life — into firelit family gatherings, the modest table of the Cratchits, and the cold truth waiting at the end of a friendless road.

This adaptation doesn't shy from the story's darker corners — the spectral children Ignorance and Want still huddle beneath the Ghost of Christmas Present's robe — but it carries Scrooge, and the audience, all the way through to the giddy, bell-ringing joy of a man given his life back.

About the Adaptation

A brand new musical adaptation, born on another stage.

Written and scored by Micah-Shane Brewer, Artistic Director of Nashville Repertory Theatre, this adaptation pairs Dickens' own words with original songs, beloved traditional carols, and breathtaking effects. It premiered at Nashville Rep in 2023 and returned by popular demand in 2024 — a remount that broke the company's attendance records and became its highest-selling production ever.

CLT is proud to bring this acclaimed adaptation to the Pendleton Playhouse stage.
